비행기 타는 게 부담스러워서 미뤄왔는데, 부산항에서 그냥 걸어 들어가서 배 타는 게 이렇게 편할 줄 몰랐습니다. 짐을 한 번만 풀면 되는 게 제일 좋았습니다. 후쿠오카에서 반나절, 상하이에서 하루 종일 있었는데 두 곳 다 시내까지 셔틀이 있어서 이동이 어렵지 않았습니다. 해상일 이틀이 지루할까 걱정했는데 오히려 그 이틀이 제일 좋았습니다. 갑판에 앉아서 아무것도 안 하는 시간이 이렇게 귀한 줄 몰랐네요. 60대 부모님 모시고 갔는데 두 분 다 만족하셨습니다.
알래스카는 사진으로 볼 때랑 완전히 다릅니다. 빙하 앞에 배가 멈춰 섰을 때 정적이 흐르다가 갑자기 대포 소리 같은 굉음이 나면서 얼음 벽이 무너져 내렸습니다. 배에 있던 사람들이 전부 조용해졌다가 동시에 소리를 질렀어요. 7월인데 갑판은 정말 추웠습니다. 패딩 가져가시라는 안내가 있었는데 그거 꼭 지키세요. 저는 얇게 입고 나갔다가 십 분 만에 들어왔습니다. 발코니 객실로 업그레이드한 건 잘한 선택이었습니다. 새벽에 커튼 열었더니 바로 빙산이 떠다니고 있더군요.
